Anchor Business Models

By AnchorFactory ·

Anchors aren't just open-source projects — they're monetizable services. Here's how production anchors earn revenue.

FX Anchors (Currency Exchange)

Revenue model: Spread on exchange rates.

When a user swaps KTA for USDC, your anchor quotes a rate that includes your spread. The difference between the market rate and your quoted rate is your profit.

Example:

  • Market rate: 1 KTA = $0.50

  • Your quoted rate: 1 KTA = $0.495

  • Spread: 1% (your revenue per trade)

Higher volume = more revenue. You can compete on spread size to attract users.

Asset Movement Anchors (Bridges)

Revenue model: Per-transfer fees.

Every cross-chain transfer through your bridge incurs a fee. This can be a flat fee, percentage-based, or tiered.

Example (Bivo):

  • ACH transfer: $100 + 5bps

  • WIRE transfer: $25 flat

  • SEPA: variable based on amount

KYC Anchors (Identity)

Revenue model: Per-verification fees from the provider side.

KYC providers typically charge per verification completed. As an anchor operator, you can:

  • Partner with a KYC vendor and mark up their API fees

  • Build your own verification pipeline for specific jurisdictions

  • Offer tiered pricing (basic ID check vs. full AML screening)

Storage Anchors

Revenue model: Per-request or subscription-based.

  • Free tier for basic storage (profile pics, contacts)

  • Paid tier for larger data, more requests, or enterprise features

  • Per-GB pricing for high-volume users

Building Your Revenue Model

When designing your anchor's pricing:

  1. Start with usage-based pricing — charge per operation, not per month. This aligns your revenue with actual value delivered.

  2. Offer a free tier — gets developers integrating your anchor. Convert them to paid as usage grows.

  3. Be transparent — publish your fee schedule in your anchor metadata. Users can see fees before they commit.

  4. Compete on reliability, not just price — uptime, speed, and developer experience matter more than being the cheapest option.

The Network Effect

Every new anchor makes the Keeta ecosystem more valuable:

  • More FX anchors = better rates through competition

  • More KYC providers = broader geographic coverage

  • More bridges = more chains connected

Your anchor benefits from every other anchor on the network, because together they make Keeta a more attractive platform for users and developers.
